My 2 year old has a bleeding diaper rash that won't go away!!? 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I really need some help here because I've been to 3 doctors&3 hospitals in the past month&everything they tell me&give me has been pretty much useless. My son started out with a really bad diaper rash that had some bleeding patches. A lot of the redness went away&the sores have gotten smaller but he still has some small bleeding sores around his buttocks&they won't seem to go away. I've tried an antifungal&cortisone prescription creme which doesn't work, calendula creams&a zillion others. Right now the best one that seems to work a little is Sudocreme. Anyways, he's also been holding in his poo because it hurts when he goes but then every 15 mins or so he goes&a little comes out so I change him right away. This process goes on for the ENTIRE day&I'm going crazy!! No one can seem to help me! I just bought some chlorine free wipes today&tommorrow I'm going to completely switch to another brand of diapers (although he's never had a problem with his current......brand of diapers). He was drinking orange juice&I've just switched him to apricot (I didn't realize the OJ was probably not helping). Do you think this could be diet related or is it an infection? I'm going to take him back to the walk in clinic tommorrow&demand some answers!!!

Citrus juices make diaper rash worse. While they may help with constipation, they will make the rash develop more.Let him run naked. Gate him in a room with tile or wood floors, and just let him be. The air will help the rash dry quicker. My daughter had a bad rash when she was younger, and letting her be bare bottomed was the only thing that cleared it up. It will be messy for you, but will help his bottom.

apricot is still acidic. i've recently heard that diaper rash to this extent could be a type of yeast infection. my nephew used to get this rash on his back. he was 24 before he found out his body somehow produced too much yeast. worth looking into. good luck

well for one try to run him a warm bath. but the warmer the water the more irritated the rash might look. put some baking soda in the water and just let him play. my son has really bad exima all the time. it gets worse when he has warm cloths on. he gets it so bad that his skin looks like he has jock itch or a fungus. he starts bleeding and cracking. let him run around without a dipper. (it might be a good time to start potty training him.) he has to let it cool off and dry up. plus i use a cream called Cetaphil. i have to use it everyday.if i dont it will just come right back. when he gets out of that bath just pat him dry. use some Vaseline. but let it breath and keep it moist.
